This 1926 Spanish Colonial in Los Angeles, California looks like a fairy tale house. 3bds, 4ba, $2.2M. Love everything but the taxidermy.
Isn't this amazing? The red ceiling is a stunner. Love the fireplace and shelving, too.
It has a large dining room with fairy tale cottage windows.
The kitchen is large, and look at the cute Dutch door. Love the floor.
The primary bedroom is so cozy. It doesn't look big enough to fit a piano, but it's deceiving.
You don't see many red bathrooms. Very nice. I can't decide if I like the uneven tile look.
Cute alcove is a great place to read, but the small desk looks good in here.
Absolutely love the library. It reminds me of a treehouse.
Bedroom #2 is a child's room. It's pretty big, b/c it accommodates some large furniture pieces.
This bath is cool- burgundy subway tiles.
Bedroom #3 with large sliders to the garden, is being used for an exercise space.
The house has several Juliet balconies and a turret tower.
This is a lovely roof top deck.
The garden is so pretty.
Interesting waterfall and pond.
Not much of a driveway, but there's a double garage. The property is very angular and small, 5,299 sq ft lot, but it's in the expensive Hollywood Hills.

Ashton Greymoore is from Crown Heights and works in a neighborhood deli and he makes the best chopped cheese New York City has ever seen and gets paid $18 an hour so you better fucking tip
Orym is from a small town in northern Vermont that voted 97% Bernie Sanders and he is rarely seen without the green thick flannel that he got from his stepdad before he passed. He helps run a martial training summer camp, but works at a grocery store most of the time.
Laudna is big in the Portland goth scene because she works at a taxidermy shop where people bring her their beloved dearly departed pets and she brings them back to life as statues.
Imogen lives in Tennessee and works at a horse ranch that rents out for kids birthday parties. She has a therapist that she goes to twice a week and she takes at least five different medications for her mental health.
Chetney is from northern Wisconsin where he lives in a cabin by himself and crafts the most gorgeous wooden furniture and statues. He thinks its funny when people complain about deep snow during the winter. He goes ice fishing and wears T-shirts with wolves howling at the moon.
FCG is from Huntsville Alabama where they used to work at the Space and Rocket center, but he recently discovered Christ and he’s really into it. They’ve never touched a bible but really likes the concept of being Christian so he figures its good.
Fearne was born and raised in Los Angeles to a wealthy and famous celebrity couple who left her with their housekeeper most of the time. She likes to garden and has a weird fascination with fire. She’s a nepo baby so shes never worked a day in her life and doesn’t know what “clopening” means.

FLP CHAPBOOK OF THE DAY: eyes that look with sun but see with moon by Jack Greene
On SALE now! Pre-order Price Guarantee: https://www.finishinglinepress.com/product/eyes-that-look-by-jack-greene/
eyes that look with sun but see with moon moves the reader through rooms of Vermeer to atomic fall out shelters to dioramas of taxidermied deer, finally arriving where it started: in light. The experience of the #poems is an intimate, internal gallery, one that merges words and images and light into a new gravitational pull, each in and of its own frame, and all a part of this #life, this planet.
Jack Greene is a poet and photographer. His poetry has been published in the Liliput Review, not enough night, Bombay Gin, Mungo vs. Ranger, Rattapallax, and the Sextant Review. He holds a MFA in Writing and Poetics from Naropa University, as well as BA in English Literature from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is a past recipient of a Colorado Council on the Arts Poetry Fellowship and served as a poet-in-residence for the Colorado Council on the Arts. He has taught poetry and creative writing workshops and courses in the Front Range. His photography has been exhibited at Naropa University, the Boulder Jewish Community Center, and the University of Colorado, Boulder, and can be viewed at jackgreenephotography.picfair.com. He lives in Longmont, Colorado with the writer and performer Lisa Trank.
PRAISE FOR eyes that look with sun but see with moon by Jack Greene
Jack Greene brings the master photographer’s eye for the instant to language. Allen Ginsberg’s first teaching to me was “it’s easier than you think: look out your eye like looking through a window.” Easier said than done. It takes time to master the moment. You love the poets you love to think with. That’s the extent of it. All the rest is valentines. I’ll be reading Jack for a long time.
–Steven Taylor
Jack Greene is a poet of condensed lyric irony, light (sun and moon) and tender memory. The child’s fear of “trees sprouting out of rocks” leaps out, as does the “simulacrum” deer behind museum glass, suddenly alive, nose moist from “a drop of shellac.” Animation reminiscent of Williams Carlos Williams’s glittering green glass shard in the dirt behind the hospital, animated by light and by noticing what’s tangible is always celebratory.“Vermeer’s Aquarium” is a gem, as well, where we sit “like pilgrims at a shrine” and witness depictions of art-mind, as with Proust and Joseph Cornell who continue in their hermetic practice as wars come and go. There are quiet poems honoring family, a hypnagogic cinematic image of a mother’s wedding veil unraveling in a light beam and the “father’s foot/a constant/song” which is the rhythm and a glow that remains with you in the reading of these singular poems. Kudos for this poet’s truth.
–Anne Waldman
In eyes that look with sun but see with moon, Jack Greene’s words come like meteors into the darkness. Behold our humanity, illuminated and elevated by these bright poem-lights streaking across the pages of this collection, precise in their economy of diction and style, but profound in their resonant permanence within the reader. While wholly new and of this time, Greene’s words arrive to further a tradition populated by the ancient Asian masters, Lorine Niedecker, Robert Creeley, Anselm Hollo, and many other greats. The poetry world has been improved by this gift.
–Matt Hohner

The moment he saw the water up close, he beamed. He resisted the urge to either strip off his clothes and go for a nice, long dive, or simply throw himself in, fully clothed. That he had made of an island his home had been no accident. The moment he'd laid eyes on Kakuxtal he'd fallen in love with it. After only a couple days spent into the cheapest hotel he had been able to afford at the time, he'd decided that was where he wanted to live for the rest of life. That was over a decade ago. Aw, but those tacky hotels are the best. He pursed his lips into a pout, as if truly offended. The worse one he'd ever been to was some hotel in Los Angeles, where literally everything in the room, from its walls, the decorations, and the bedding, had been a hideous mustard color. A sore for the eyes that nearly gave him nightmares just to think about. Unfortunately, that had been one of the few places with any vacancy close to the convention center he was meant to attend for some taxidermy competition. He pulled The Cat King closer to the water, with all the eagerness of a kid inside a candy store. This is breathtaking, isn't it? I'd kill to go for a swim right now.
Meal's payed for and the cat king remains leaned into end of table so much so that face is close to Dae's once he stands from seat. Leaned over table enough that he's looking up at the other despite being the same height and a little smirk's given before pulling back and standing straight. Brow arches at the little nudge to elbow before he leads the way out. Through the back access of restaurant so that they can walk along the trail by the bay. Making sure to keep to the outer edge of trail so that Dae can get the best view of water.
" Really? That'd be my preference. " Said with a shrug. Not that he has the money for anything like that. Which is why he lives in an abandoned warehouse. But he can understand the discomfort in a place like that. " Lucky for you there's a lot of nice little Inn's around here. Fully equipped with those ridiculous patterned sheets on the beds and everything. " Index is pointed down open mouth with tongue out to feign a gag.

Allis Markham
On Instagram as @/preytaxidermy
Website
Allis Markham is a taxidermist from the L.A. area, and currently has a studio in Highland Park, Los Angeles. In 2017 she was named ‘Third Best in the World’ at the World Taxidermy Championships. Allis’s clients include The Huntington Library, The Santa Bárbara Museum of Natural History, and The Getty.
Check out Allis Markham on Ologies!
Allis Markham is committed to both science and art, and it is obvious in her work. Taxidermy is a polarizing art form, but it combines some of my favorite things—sculptural art and biology.

HEAR: Indie Pop | Harmony - “Yesterday”
Los Angeles' Harmony shares her new standalone single "Yesterday." The song follows the release of Harmony's critically acclaimed debut solo EP Dystopia Girl, which arrived this summer via Harmony's Fantasy Corp. With emotionally in-tune lyrics and shimmering pop production, "Yesterday" book ends a successful, watershed year for the singer-songwriter. Paired with the single, Harmony shares the video shot by Ayodeji and assisted by Charlie Brady. Harmony recently played to audiences in New York City, Los Angeles and London where she performed the new single along with the Dystopia Girl project in intimate settings. Additionally, Harmony's song "I Am So Lucky And Nothing Can Stop Me" was used in Sandy Liang's New York Fashion Week show this past September. A Libra through and through, Harmony is obsessed with balance and the union of opposites. The Angeleno's debut solo project is a reflection of just that; composed of both ballads and bops, traversing themes of certainty and doubt, mysticism and cynicism, and fantasy and reality. It is at once viscerally passionate and gracefully impartial; both gravely serious and tongue-in-cheek frivolous. The Dystopia Girl EP is a compact emotional whirlwind of euphoric highs and devastating lows felt to their fullest and presented in perfect harmony. Dystopia Girl includes "Shoplifting From Nike," which was produced with Wyatt Bernard and Austin Corona and arrived with a playful video directed by Morgan Maher and "Good Things Take Time," which arrived with a video also directed by Maher and was produced by Bernard, Dylan Brady, Francis Brady and Micah Jasper and was mixed by Kayla Regan. Harmony is a singer-songwriter who has made a name for herself with her poignant lyrics and delicate, evocative voice. As one half of canonical indie band Girlpool, Harmony’s songwriting has often been praised for its striking honesty and emotional clarity. With her foray into pop music, she brings the same poetical fervor and olympic emotion. Harmony delves into the complexities of the human experience with a depth and sensitivity that is rare in the pop music landscape. Born and raised in Hollywood, amidst a chimerical bricolage of glimmering fantasy and brutal destitution, Harmony has always been taken by contrast. Glitz and grime abreast, her hometown prompts questions of artifice and authenticity, instilling in her a belief that being is a creative act. Navigating this tentative relationship with reality, Harmony sings of infinity worlds, reality restarts, and angel kisses from the next dimension. Equally at ease with the introspective and personal, Harmony gives us “taxidermy daydreams” and “laxative bliss” in her musings on body image and femininity. Read the full article

Hi Everyone. I will say the amount of interactions this post has gotten has been a bit overwhelming, because I get to read and feel all of your comments expressing broth the grief surrounding P-22’s death, and also the collective grief surrounding the world we’ve inherited. It can be disempowering to witness ways that these harmful cycles repeat. P-22’s death quickly brought me into the core of my grief, and you know what they say.. one grievance touches all grief. But it also feels comforting to know that P-22’s legacy has impacted people all over the world, even those not from LA. Today I am here to share good news! Yesterday my friend texted me a statement posted December 17th, created by the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles where they state they are in conversation with Tongva and Chumash tribes about P-22’s remains and his burial. They also stated they will not taxidermy or display his body, which to me feels like solace. I’ll keep updating as I know more. Prayers up, let’s keep sending this situation Love so as to it can unfold in an honorable way.
they captured the Griffith Park mountain lion because he killed a leashed pet last month. Magnificent Beautiful revered old cat. I hate the way they name them.. “P-22” like a specimen. He’s lived amongst those hills for years. I pray for his life, his freedom and his spirit. He tells a story that many people of Los Angeles have willfully forgotten about. You deserve honor big boy.
